Mission: To improve the health of anyone suffering from diabetes, pre-diabetes, or obesity, and to enhance lifelong health with physical activity and related lifestyle improvements.

Goal: To be the premier resource for educational materials and take-charge, action plans with the potential for lifelong adherence to combat the health effects of diabetes, pre-diabetes, obesity, and unhealthy lifestyles.

Target Audiences: Individuals in their workplaces and communities; corporations concerned about the health of their employees; school systems interested in teaching health and wellness to their students; local governments; and the public at large.

  • Executive Director: Sheri Colberg, Ph.D., is one of the top experts on exercise and its impact on diabetes, pre-diabetes, weight management, and healthy living. As Executive Director of the Exercise & Diabetes Institute, she aims to impact the largest number of people living with unhealthy lifestyles and bodies through seminars, videos, educational articles and books, and easily-implemented, take-charge plans.

    Dr. Sheri Colberg is the author of The Diabetic Athlete (2001), Diabetes-Free Kids (2005), The 7 Step Diabetes Fitness Plan (2006), The Science of Staying Young (2007), 50 Secrets of the Longest Living People with Diabetes (2007), Biggest Loser Matt Hoover’s Guide to Life, Love, and Losing Weight (2008), The Diabetic Athlete’s Handbook (2008), and soon Diabetes? No Problema (2009). A coveted local, national, and international lecturer for medical and lay audiences, she is also the author of more than 175 educational and research articles on a variety of health topics published in journals, magazines, and newsletters such as Diabetes Care, Diabetes Health, Journal of Diabetes & Its Complications, The Physician and Sportsmedicine, Diabetes Self-Management, International Journal of Obesity, Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, Journal of Applied Physiology, Diabetes In Control, dLife—For Your Diabetes Life, and TCOYD—Taking Control of Your Diabetes. She also represents the American Diabetes Association on the current creation of the National Physical Activity Plan (to be launched in spring of 2010), along with leading the writing group of the joint 2010 position stand on "Exercise and Type 2 Diabetes" for the ADA and the American College of Sports Medicine.

She has also spread the word about the importance of lifelong exercise through podcasts, frequent radio interviews, and local and national TV appearances, most recently including “TCOYD TV,” “The 700 Club,” “Living the Life,” “dLife TV,” and on over 15 morning TV news shows via satellite.
